Rebecca Klassen-Wiebe is a current artist in residence at Opéra de Montréal known for her inspired and intuitive approach to collaborative work, interpretation, and performance.

A celebrated collaborator, Rebecca works with Canada’s top emerging vocal talent, including singers from the Royal Opera House, Dutch National Opera, Opéra de Montréal, Canadian Opera Company, the Santa Fe Opera, Opera Pittsburgh, Aix-en-Provence, the Ryan Opera Center, Musique 3 Femmes, and l’Orchestre de l’Agora.


As an artist in residence with Opéra de Montréal, Rebecca has worked extensively within the core operatic repertoire serving as a répétiteur and coach for various main stage productions as well as collaborations with organisations such as Orchestre Metropolitain, Orchestre de l'Agora, Orchestre Symphonique de Drummondville, Musique 3 Femmes,  Jeunesses Musicales Canada, and Orchestre Classique de Montréal, among others. Upcoming and recent engagements include official assistant pianist for Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, the world premiere of Bilodeau & Bouchard's La Reine Garçon, and Verdi’s La Traviata.

Equally at home on the recital stage, Rebecca has performed alongside emerging and internationally acclaimed artists for programs at Salle Bourgie, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur, and Montreal's own Café d'Art Vocal. Currently, Rebecca is preparing works by composers spanning from Handel to Massenet to Bilodeau for an upcoming concert at the Théâtre Rialto in Montreal . 

Rebecca maintains a coaching studio with artists who perform internationally at houses such as Opéra de Montréal, the Canadian Opera Company, the Vancouver Opera, the Royal Opera House, the Santa Fe Opera, the Komische Opera Berlin, Aix-en-Provence, and the Dutch National Opera. Her interest in languages and desire to approach people with openness and compassion are invaluable assets in the coaching studio. ​

An active community member, Rebecca has collaborated with various Canadian community arts organizations and non-profits including La Gang à Rambrou (OdM), Co-Opéra (OdM), Espace Transition (OdM), Camp Père Lindsay, Winnipeg's Little Opera Company, Fondation LRDG, and Winnipeg Music Festival. She has been active in the Winnipeg choral scene as well as working with youth in Choral programs in the Pembina Trails School Division (Winnipeg). She is also actively involved as a performing artist on the outreach series Parlons Opéra with Opéra de Montréal, designed to introduce new audiences to classical music in Montreal and beyond. 

Rebecca is a grant recipient from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), examining the absence of stories of motherhood within English Art Songs. She is an alumnus of the McGill University Schulich School of Music and Canadian Mennonite University, and received additional training from the Toronto Summer Music Academy, Kelowna Opera, the CoOPERAtive Program, Opera NUOVA, and the Lachine International Vocal Academy. Rebecca has played on Masterclass programs for Barbara Hannigan, Wolfram Rieger, James Vaughan, Carol Isaac, Dorothea Röschmann, Stephen Lawless, and Michael McMahon, among others. 

Originally from Winnipeg, Rebecca is now based in Montreal, Québec.
